PRESS RELEASE
Rapperswil-Jona, 21.12.2022
- YouMo AG is taking over spare parts from Ortlinghaus and is now providing the repair and spare parts service for the GO SwissDrive BikeBus system.
- The takeover will secure the service in the market for the coming years.
- The know-how for the Bikebus system has already been built up and is secured through license agreements with the developer of the rear motor for e-bikes.
- The license agreement also means that new motors with the BikeBus system can be supplied as replacements.
YouMo AG will take over spare parts from GO SwissDrive when the Ortlinghaus motor service ends. Further components will follow at the beginning of 2023. The service is offered in Switzerland and, via a partner, also in Germany and the EU. Limited support is available for CAN systems.
YouMo AG has been successfully installing the motors in its eCruiser models since 2014. “We were very shocked when Go SwissDrive announced its withdrawal shortly before the start of the 2019 season. […]”, says Knut Späte, experienced electrical engineer and founder of YouMo AG. “That’s why we had stocked up on enough components back then. Our YouMo eCruisers are designed for longevity and sustainability. That’s why it’s very important to us to be able to offer our customers a long-term solution. As there is no provider in Switzerland that will continue the service, we decided to set it up ourselves.”
Since its founding in 2013, the company has not only developed system expertise, but also its own electronics for the GO SwissDrive system. In 2022, the expertise for engine repairs was established and has already been implemented for a major customer. In addition, a license agreement was concluded with the original development company for the GO SwissDrive motor’s Bikebus system. This will secure the know-how for the coming years.
The rear motors have a large fan base and are used by tens of thousands of end customers and e-bike rental providers every day. After GO SwissDrive ceased production in 2019, Ortlinghaus continued the service in Germany until mid-2021 and in Switzerland until October 2022.
