What are the differences between the Go SwissDrive displays and what you need to know to ensure that your display is compatible with the manufacturer’s system. We focus in particular on the Go SwissDrive EVO Display and show you common defects, solutions and alternatives.
From
Go SwissDrive
there are several display types.
Go SwissDrive itself sold three different types of display.
Furthermore, individual bike manufacturers have installed their own solutions in their eBikes, such as Specialized.
The LCD Standard Display is comparatively small and has a black and white display. You can attach it directly to the handlebar. However, the display is no longer manufactured and can only be repaired to a limited extent.
In contrast, the EVO TFT color display more extensive and larger. It has been developed for both the BikeBus system and the CAN bus system. The display consists of the actual display and a docking station with a separate operating unit on the handlebar. It offers storage options, has a USB interface and could be connected via Bluetooth and app can be used.
Please note that the apps for iOS and Android are no longer updated and therefore not all functions are available.
The ANT+ display was installed by some eBike manufacturers in the early years. The display is connected to the battery via a wireless connection. The system is not compatible with the BikeBus and CAN bus systems. The display has been discontinued for some time and spare parts are no longer available.
The two systems are different versions from Go SwissDrive. These do not differ externally and the Structure is almost identical. Nevertheless, the two systems are not compatible with each other. This is due to the fact that various communication protocols are used.
1st version: Go SwissDrive with BikeBus protocol
2nd version: Go SwissDrive with CAN bus protocol
There are 2 different generations of the Bikebus version, until 2015 and from 2016. Both are designed for the Bikebus system. However, the respective displays and docking stations are not compatible with each other.
In the YouMo Shop you can still obtain Go SwissDrive displays, each of which is compatible with one of the systems.
Instead of the BikeBus system the ANT+ communication system installed. This enables the wireless transmission of information between the display and the unit installed in the battery via a radio link.
Important: The two systems are not compatibleand components are not interchangeable.
However, you can convert your e-bike from the ANT+ communication system to the BikeBus system convert. This requires reprogramming the motor, replacing the wiring harness and adding a compatible display.
Please note: When converting from ANT+ to BikeBus, the battery capacity later no longer later via the display displayed become. The battery would have to be able to communicate with the new BikeBus, which is not the case.

Go SwissDrive offers different versions of docking stations for the EVO display.
A distinction is made between the docking stations in the version up to 2015 and from 2016. The two variants are not compatible with each other.
Further points must be distinguished in the various versions.
The alignment of the docking station on the handlebar determines how the display is positioned on the handlebar. The EVO display is turned towards or away from the rider when viewed from the handlebars. See the photos.
A distinction is made between the cable outlet on the control unit from the side away from the control unit “Lateral outlet” or from the inside outwards “Hole outlet”. The side output is used if the control unit is to be mounted on either the left or right side of the handlebar. The cable exit hole is used when there is little space on the handlebars.
The cable to the control panel cannot be disconnected as standard. There is also a version where the cable with a plug connection can be separated by a plug connector. This version is mainly used when the cable either needs to be extended or routed inside the handlebars. This variant is mainly used by the company HP-Velotechnik.
The CAN bus display can only be distinguished externally from the Bikebus display by the product label. The CAN display is labeled “CAN Only”.
The CAN bus docking station has a different plug connection to the Bikebus docking station. There are currently 2 different versions of the docking stations, which differ in the length of the cable for the control unit.
