Whether cargo e-bikes are allowed to ride on the road, cycle path or footpath in Switzerland depends on their total weight.

Light motorcycles (up to 250 kg) may ride on the road, but only if there is no cycle path. If there is a cycle path, they must use it – regardless of whether there is an additional “voluntary” sign or not. If there is an additional sign saying “prohibited for motorcycles”, the use of the cycle path remains compulsory.

Heavy motorcycles (250 to 450 kg) may only be ridden on the road “voluntarily” with an additional plate. Without this, they must use the Use the cycle path. The weight of the load influences the range, as the motor has to provide more energy. The heavier the load, the higher the battery consumption – especially when starting off or on hilly terrain. A steady riding style, adjusted assistance level and anticipatory shifting help to optimize the range.

Our XCYC cargo bikes also support you on steep routes – with the Bosch Performance CX motor (75 Nm) or the Bosch Cargo Line CX motor (85 Nm). The motor control adapts to ensure a smooth ride.

XCYC cargo bikes are robustly constructed and can also cope with unpaved paths such as gravel or forest tracks. Wide tires, a stable frame and powerful Bosch motors ensure reliable traction. However, they are not designed for extreme terrain.

The electric cargo bikes are particularly maneuverable and require hardly any space for turning. The Allround 4.0 models turn at just 340 cm, the Work 4.0 models at 460 cm – compact and easy to steer. Ideal for narrow passages in city centers and pedestrian zones, at depots and in warehouses, at trade fairs and events, in the trades and service sectors as well as in communities and parks.

The XCYC PICKUP is stable and comfortable even on uneven roads. The optimized double rear suspension fork absorbs bumps and compensates for unevenness, while the low centre of gravity and robust frame ensure a smooth ride on cobblestones and gravel.

XCYC cargo bikes are primarily designed for transporting loads, but it is possible to attach child seats. There is currently no standard equipment for transporting children, but we are planning to equip some models with special child seats in the future.

Yes, you can attach a trailer to your XCYC cargo bike. The XCYC ALLROUND 4.0 Eco and XCYC ALLROUND 4.0 models are compatible with all trailers according to DIN 15918 that use the “Weber” coupling system. Please note that the maximum permissible total weight varies depending on the model and must be taken into account when attaching a trailer.
