HP Velotechnik

HP Velotechnik is passionate about recumbent bikes. In the Hessian factory near Frankfurt am Main, 2,000 bikes are built every year and sold in Germany, Europe and internationally. The bikes can also be configured according to individual customer requirements and assembled using the modular system.

In addition to some two-wheeled recumbents, the Gekko and Scorpion series are among the tricycles. The fast touring and trekking trikes offer high riding dynamics and comfort, with the Scorpion series also featuring suspension. Depending on the model, the recumbent trikes are also foldable. All HP Velotechnik models can be optionally equipped with an electric drive.

The reasons why bike and eBike riders opt for trikes can be many and varied. Their preferences often depend on various factors. 

Older adults or people with reduced mobility

• Tricycles/trikes offer a more stable platform than conventional bicycles and are therefore suitable for people with limited balance or mobility problems.
• The tricycle configuration makes it easier to get on and off the bike, which is particularly beneficial for older people.

Comfort-oriented drivers

• Recumbent bikes, including trikes, offer a comfortable and relaxed riding position that reduces pressure on the hands, wrists, neck and back.

• Some trike models can be equipped with special trailers to transport children.

• Some trikes are optimized for sporting activities and offer high speeds and manoeuvrability.
• The aerodynamic position and lightweight design make them attractive for sporty riders.

Environmentally conscious commuters

• Trikes can be an environmentally friendly alternative for urban transportation, especially if they are equipped with electric drives.
• They are efficient and low-emission, which could appeal to environmentally conscious drivers.

The reasons for choosing trikes can therefore depend on individual needs and preferences, be it comfort, stability, sporting performance or practical use.

One of the outstanding advantages and unique selling points of the Go SwissDrive system, which can be used in an HP-Velotechnik trike, is the option of reverse push assistance.

Only this enables older people or people with limited mobility to use a tricycle/eTrike for complete mobility.
