Review of Eurobike 2025: XCYC Cargo e-bikes for the future
Five days, three locations, countless discussions: Eurobike 2025 was intense.
From June 25 to 29, we and our team (Knut, Jon, Mischa, Philip and Violeta) were out and about at the trade fair grounds in Frankfurt.
We had our vehicles in three different locations: in Hall 8, in the Cargo Area, right next to it in the Ecomobility area and outside on the test track in the outdoor area.
That meant a lot of back and forth, constantly between stands, in the middle of a conversation, then again at the other end of the hall. And on top of that, meetings with suppliers in various halls.
We answered questions, accompanied test drives, listened a lot, cultivated contacts and looked at innovative new partners. Some appointments were planned in advance, others were spontaneous, just like at a trade fair.
And very specific things were often discussed: How much can the bike weigh? How exactly does tilting work? Can it be integrated into our daily work routine? Is there already experience from other municipalities?
You can tell pretty quickly whether someone is just curious or really looking for a solution. For us, it was exactly what we needed: real, practical feedback, directly from the people it affects. And a market overview that shows us where we stand.
XCYC Work with tipping loading platform – the most photographed model
If we had to name one vehicle that got the most attention, then it was clearly the XCYC Work with tiltable loading area.
Many people stopped, asked questions and took photos. Even Gary Fischer, the inventor of the mountain bike, shared the model on social media.
For some, this was interesting for the construction yard, for others for city cleaning or parks. The reactions were almost always the same: “Ah, that makes it much easier.”
XCYC Longtail with Urban Delivery superstructure – made for the city
No less exciting: our new model, the XCYC Longtail with Urban Delivery superstructure (BagPro). Compact, stable, efficient, an ideal solution for delivery services, restaurants or inner-city transportation.
Go SwissDrive now in our XCYC models
At Eurobike, we were able to show for the first time how the Go SwissDrive system rides in our XCYC models. Many people recognized the system straight away – just in a new form. We have adopted it, developed it further and installed it in such a way that it simply runs: quietly, powerfully and without any noticeable delay – especially in combination with the Pinion gear system.
Live on the Pink Stage – XCYC in municipal use
On June 28, we presented one of our vehicles at the Pink Stage: the XCYC Work with a municipal superstructure.
Philip Douglas explained how such e-cargo vehicles are used by cities and municipalities in everyday life and what counts in practice.
The example he gave from the municipal cemetery service is particularly memorable. There, the XCYC is now used to transport things like soil, watering cans or flowers silently and efficiently.
Relevant industry topics: Legislative changes & market differences
In addition to the vehicles themselves, many discussions also focused on the legal framework. The discussion with Burhardt Stork, Managing Director of the Zweirad Industrie-Verband, who was very interested in the Swiss approach, was very exciting.
Since July 1, 2025, new rules have been in force in Switzerland that make it much easier to use cargo e-bikes: Vehicles with a total weight of up to 450 kg are now allowed to travel on public roads – without complicated approval procedures.
This has made many municipalities, companies and logistics experts sit up and take notice.
Our summary of Eurobike 2025 – and what comes next
Eurobike 2025 was intense and exciting for us – and above all: very close to the real world.
We not only showed our vehicles, but also had many good discussions, received honest feedback and made new contacts.
Whether for the building yard, inner-city logistics or municipal services: the possible applications for our XCYC models are broad and the interest in them is there.
What comes next?
We are staying tuned. Feedback is being evaluated, the first follow-up discussions are underway, test rides are planned, feedback is being analyzed. We are looking forward to everything that comes out of this Eurobike – more discussions, projects, further developments. Together with the people who really use our vehicles.
